Dr Nicola Rollock opens WOW Festival 2018

What compromises do black women have to make to fit in and at what cost?

Nicola opened the WoW 2018 panel discussion 'Code-switching: survival strategies for Black women in the workplace' by sharing her creative piece 'How many times?' which was received with heartfelt applause and appreciation.

Sharing the panel with Nicola were Lola Olufemi, Deborah WilliamsYassmin Abdel-Magied and chaired by Hannah Azieb Pool.


Dr Nicola Rollock appointed WOW 2018 Committee member 


WOW – Women of the World festival celebrates women and girls, and looks at the obstacles that stop them from achieving their potential. From 7-11 March 2018, Southbank Centre’s WOW - Women of the World festival welcomes everybody for a programme of more than 200 talks and debates, concerts, performances and workshops. 

Nicola shares the honourable appointment of WOW 2018 Committee member with tastemakers in press, culture and academia including broadcaster Fatima Manji,  UK Black Pride co-founder Phyll Opoku-Gyimah and Co-Founder of the Black British Business Awards Melanie Eusebe.


Dr Nicola Rollock talks CRT at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama


The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, was the setting as Nicola spoke to a packed audience about subjective positioning and Critical Race Theory (CRT) to kick-start their Performing Research unit. Rollock's hard-hitting words struck a positive chord, receiving glowing praise on social media.

Back to school 

March 2018

Dr Nicola Rollock was honoured to join fellow alumnae of Streatham & Clapham High School to talk education and gender equality as part of a panel for International Women's Day 2018. 

Joining Nicola on the panel were Elsie Owusu, Lucinda Elliott and Dr Jasmina Lijesevic before an audience of parents, students and alumnae.

The Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE) invited Nicola to speak exclusively to their Diversifying Leadership alumni and provide expert advice on how to drive positive change within the institution of higher education. Rollock's powerful rhetoric received warm messages of appreciation across social media.
